Arsenal U21s vs Brighton U21s at Meadow Park: Preview
Here's Nick Manfredi with Arsenal Academy preview ahead of the Young Guns hosting Brighton U21s at Meadow Park on Friday evening
Prologue
Arsenal’s U21s return to Boreham Wood on Friday evening still looking for their first three points of the season against Brighton.
The Young Guns were at least able to get their first point on the board last time out, after an exciting 2-2 draw away at Nottingham Forest, with boss Max Porter hoping his players can turn good performances into good results against the Seagulls.
Team news
In terms of team news, it will be interesting to see who Porter names in goal.
Tommy Setford started in the defeat to Fulham but was replaced by Lucas Nygaard for the draw at Forest.
Setford will be hoping for another year of progress following on from his first team debut at Preston last season.
We can expect to see Marli Salmon to start at the back, another player who will be hoping for first team minutes in the cups this year.
Brighton U21s
As for the visitors, Arsenal academy can expect a very tough test from a side who have won both of their opening games, scoring eight and conceding none.
A pair of 4-0 wins over West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers respectively have the Seagulls sitting pretty at the top after two games.
Can the Arsenal U21s kickstart our season with a win against the side from Sussex? Let’s hope so.
