Arsenal Women 1-1 Aston Villa Women: Lucy Parker's late WSL leveller denies Gunners
A frustrating afternoon at the Emirates for Arsenal Women who looked flat against Villa during the 1-1 draw in the WSL
Renee Slegers side were foiled after an underwhelming performance low on energy in front of 24,712 fans on Saturday lunchtime.
Frida Maanum opened the scoring for AWFC in the first half before Lucy Parker equalised late in the match, as the home side failed to take their chances - as Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the WSL ahead of Sunday's fixtures.
Parker thwarted Arsenal Women's hopes of moving to the top of the WSL after her 94th-minute equaliser sealed a point for Natalia Arroyo's Villa to make the score 1-1.
Maanum pounced on sloppy defending from the visitors after 10 minutes from Mariona Caldentey's assist - following England midfielder Missy Bo Kearns's careless ball across her own 18 yard box.
Norway midfielder Maanum should have doubled the lead from a yard out before the interval, but angled wide from Beth Mead's ball across the goal line, depsite the Gunners totalling 19 shots, and 46 touches in the opposition box.
The Gunners intensity dropped after the break, eventually being punished in the 95th minute when centre-back Parker forced the ball home following a corner.
