Arsenal supporters: Getcha Gooner! Current issue 298 on sale when Crystal Palace visit the Emirates on Sunday

Getcha Gooner: Issue 298 on sale now

Getcha Gooner: Curent issue 298 out now for Arsenal vs Bournemouth

My beloved Arsenal-supporting dad died in early January and the time since has been a sad one for my family and myself, writes Gooner editor Layth Yousif.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every single person who has taken the trouble to offer kind words and wishes to myself and my family.

Such humbling and heartwarming support, whether it be a few kindly words, a hug, a handshake or a pat on the back from so many good people while I’ve been selling the Gooner outside the Arsenal has been such a huge, huge , huge comfort to me and my family.

I also have to say a big thank you to the kindly souls I’ve bumped into before and after games I’ve covered – as well as many the good people I bumped into when I was in the away end with my cousin during our recent FA Cup match at Manchester City - not to mention all the personal messages people have kindly sent. You’ve all been a massive comfort.

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone, I really can’t thank you all enough for your support.

Everything including work - and sadly, but understandably, the Gooner Fanzine - has very much taken a back seat since we lost dad, so please forgive me for another slimmed down issue.

I can’t stress enough that this situation is only temporary, and I promise you with all my heart that we will be back up and running in full glorious 68-page colour to mark our 300th issue – and hopefully far, far beyond.

In the meantime, we are simply trying to keep the Gooner going in difficult circumstances, financial and emotional.

We are gearing up to blitz the world with one more do or die Save The Gooner campaign that will hopefully secure our long-term future, despite the ongoing cost of living crisis that has hit us extremely hard.

There will be more details in our next issue (299), and in our weekly newsletters which we have recommenced this week - with future newsletters set to be sent every Friday and either before or after big games this spring as well.

In the meantime, if you are one of those wonderful people who have previously signed up to our direct debit scheme then, if, you can, please allow it to run over, as it’s people like you who are keeping us alive.

We’ll have more details of how you can help Save The Gooner, in our next issue which will be out at some stage next month, most probably the home game vs Palace on March 19 or Arsenal vs Leeds in early April.

While we’re here I’d also like to thank my utterly brilliant partner Faye, for all her incredible love and support, and my three wonderful Arsenal-mad kids for being so brave.

Thanks also to absolutely everyone associated with the Gooner Fanzine.

Here’s to my family as well - as our Gooner Fanzine family and community. With your support we’ll all be back stronger.

Come on you Gunners
