Lotte Wubben-Moy commits future to Arsenal until 2028

Defender signs new long-term deal despite huge interest from Europe and the USA

Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has pledged her future to the club by signing a new contract that extends until 2028, disproving predictions that she might leave the club. The 26-year-old player, who has been with the club since her academy days and made an impressive 143 appearances for Arsenal, was awarded the club's player of the season in 2023-24.

Wubben-Moy's journey through Arsenal's ranks is a testament to her talent and dedication. She came up through the academy and quickly established herself as a key player in the first team. Her leadership skills and professionalism have been recognised as integral parts of her contribution to the team.

During her award-winning season in 2023-24, she worked closely with current Head Coach Renee Slegers, who was then serving as personal development coach. This partnership proved fruitful for both parties, leading to significant growth in Wubben-Moy’s game.

Interest from NWSL and Europe

Despite interest from other clubs, including those in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Europe – notably Bayern Munich – Wubben-Moy chose loyalty over opportunity. Her desire is clear. She wants to win with Arsenal.

Her commitment isn't just limited off-field; she is also expected back on the pitch after recovering from an injury this Sunday.

Stoke Newington native and lifelong Gunner fan, Wubben-Moy, expressed immense pride at extending her stay at Emirates Stadium.

In an interview with Arsenal.com, Wubben-Moy said:

"I feel a huge amount of pride, excitement and optimism. I’m determined to make this next chapter count."

She further emphasised that this new contract comes at a time when her ambitions align perfectly with her abilities on the pitch, indicating high hopes for the future.

Arsenal's Head Coach, Renée Slegers, expressed her delight at Wubben-Moy's decision to extend her contract. She praised Lotte as a top defender who has shown significant progression in recent years and will continue to play an important role in Arsenal’s pursuit of the highest honours in football.

Clare Wheatley, Director of Women’s Football at Arsenal, echoed these sentiments. She highlighted Wubben-Moy's journey from academy to first team and praised her as a wonderful role model for young players. Wheatley emphasised that Lotte embodies the values of hard work, strong values and determination - key ingredients for success.

With this new contract extension, Wubben-Moy is set to continue making significant contributions both on the pitch and off it – supporting Arsenal’s wider community while pursuing glory on the field.
