Smile like you mean it – the good news is that The Killers will still play at the Emirates Stadium, the bad news is the gigs set for this summer have been postponed during to the coronavirus outbreak.

The band from Las Vegas had been due to play at Arsenal’s ground in June as part of their UK and Ireland tour that was to feature songs from their forthcoming album Imploding The Mirage.

Arsenal see off competition from other sports venues in London

Despite competition from other venues in the capital Arsenal remain the only sports stadium selected in London to host the popular American band.

However, their shows at the Emirates that were to take place on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 have now been pushed back 12 months to Friday, June 4, 2021 and Saturday, June 5, 2021 due to the global pandemic.

Band release statement on official Instagram account

“UK and Ireland friends," it read, "We must postpone our UK and Ireland dates due to COVID. The single most important thing is that you all take care of yourselves and be safe and healthy.

“These are going to be the same great shows, but we have to move them to next year. All tickets will be honoured, so we really hope you will join us. If you can’t, please contact your ticket agent.”

Can you list the other bands that have played at the Emirates

Arsenal have previously hosted Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at the Emirates in two hugely successful shows more than a decade ago, on May 30, 31, 2008.

The Emirates also saw middle of the road British outfit Coldplay play three concerts in June 2012, while punk revivalists Green Day with their catchy, three cord songs full of energy, performed at the Emirates in June 2013. Muse also appeared that summer.

Emirates has also hosted political summits, X-Factor and Masterchef

Since opening in 2006 the Emirates has also held a political summit in March 2008, with then PM Gordon Brown meeting the French President at the time, Nicolas Sarkozy – because the stadium was deemed ‘a shining example of Anglo-French co-operation’ due in most part to Arsene Wenger’s long tenure at the club.

Away from sport and real music the Emirates has also been used as the location for X-Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Big Brother auditions – with the ‘talent’ normally as shaky as Arsenal’s defence, while in 2016 the stadium was the venue for Celebrity Masterchef.

Tickets purchased for the Killers will be valid for the new summer 2021 dates.

Kelly Clarkson Leona Lewis Akon Blue Katy Perry James Morrison JLS Mark Ronson Calvin Harris The Saturdays Shontelle Noisettes Ciara Enrique Iglesias Alesha Dixon Dizzee Rascal Daniel Merriweather
