Arsenal are closing in on a new midfielder as Mikel Arteta looks to boost his squad. 

Arsenal are set to make a new bid for 22-year-old Lyon and France midfielder Houssem Aouar, after their initial offer of £31.2m was rejected.

Barcelona have contacted Arsenal over a potential move for Spain defender Hector Bellerin while Ligue 1 moneybags PSG are also said to be interested in the right-back.

The north Londoners are also bracing themselves for a third bid from Aston Villa for goalkeeper Emi Martinez - with Arsenal wanting a bid of at least £20m for the 28-year-old Argentine goalkeeper.

Meanwhile striker Alexandre Lacazette, 29 is set to seek clarification over his role in Mikel Arteta's team as rumours swirl over whether the Gunners are willing to sell him.

PSG are said to be interested in Matteo Gunedouzi with La Liga side Valencia also believed to want the Gunners young midfielder.

Arsenal are also said to be monitoring Sporting Lisbon's 18-year-old Nuno Mendes.
