FA Cup holders Arsenal have been drawn to host Newcastle United at the Emirates in the third round.

The draw, which was live on BBC1 saw Robbie Savage pull Mikel Arteta's side out to face Steve Bruce's Geordies.

The Gunners are struggling in the Premier League with the 2-1 defeat by Wolves cementing a dire 14th place in the run-up to the North London derby at the weekend.

The Magpies are a place above in 13th position, with both sides welcoming the clash as a distraction from league football.

For many of a certain vintage, the tie will bring back memories of the glorious 1998 FA Cup final.

in the rest of the draw, eighth-tier Marine will face Premier League leaders Tottenham in the third round of the FA Cup, while holders Arsenal begin their campaign at home to Newcastle.

Aston Villa will host Liverpool in another all-Premier League tie with all third round fixtures scheduled to be played on the weekend of January 9-10, 2021.

Twelve-time cup winners Manchester United will host Championship side Watford at Old Trafford, while last season's runners-up Chelsea host League Two Morecambe.
