Prologue

After a run of just two wins in seven games – neither of those victories coming in the Premier League – Arsenal have sent a clincial mesage to rivals everywhere: We are back

The Gunners eased past Nottingham Forest 3-0 last weekend, following it up with an imperious 5-1 Champions League rout of Sporting Club de Portugal - and will be hoping to emulate their respounding 6-0 thrashing of West Ham at the same venue last season. 

Centre-back Gabriel scored moments before half time, celebrating by mimmicking Viktor Gyokeres goal scorimng celebrations to boot - but unfortunately picked up a knock late on before being replaced by Jakub Kiwior late on.

West Ham

West Ham are hopeful Jean-Clair Todibo will be fit after picking up a knock at Newcastle.

Former Bourssia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug is a doubt as he recovers from the achilies injury he picked up in September.

Edson Alvarez is available for the Irons once again after his recent suspension, although Mohammed Kudus will serve the final game of his five-match ban

Arsenal

The North Londoners will be without long term injury absenbtee Ben White, while Takehiro Tomiyasu remains short.

Gunners goalscoring Gabriel is being assessed after picking up a late knock during the 5-1 rout in Lisbon, with boss Arteta explaining his defender was feeling some ‘discomfort’. 

Speaking during his Friday press conference ahead of the game, Arteta, when asked if he had further team news, he replied: "Not a lot because we have another training session, we have to see how the boys are today.

"A few weren’t able to train yesterday but hopefully today so we have to wait and see.

On Gabriel Arteta said: "Wait and see. I can’t [give you an update], not because I don’t want to."
