Arsenal boss Arteta gives glowing update on Gabriel after hamstring injury
Arteta reveals the latest on Gabriel, who missed the end of last season with a hamstring injury.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed key Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes - and the rest of his squad - have reported back for duty in tip top shape.
The Gunners landed in Singapore on Sunday, where the travelling party will play two matches in the National Stadium, starting with a clash against AC Milan set for Wednesday.
“Well, we haven't seen them for four or six weeks," Artera said, adding: "They come back and they seem older, more mature, really excited.
"Gabi as well, because with his new contract as well he showed his commitment to the club and that he continues to grow in his role. So I'm very pleased.
"He played 45 minutes against Watford on Saturday. He looks in good shape. William Saliba as well. We have missed a lot of players at the end of the season, but they all look to be in the right direction and to be fit and contributing too.”
Arsenal might have just been shaded in the hunt for the last two Premier League titles, but this season will be different, insisted defender Gabriel.
"I think the players that came will help us out a lot," the fit again Brazil centre-back said.
"The club is doing what is best for the players and the manager."
"We want to have the best players. To be in the dispute for titles, you have to have the best players.
"We have let a couple of titles slip through our fingers recently.
"We almost won but I think this year, things will be different," Gabriel told the BBC in an interview published on Sunday.
