Arsenal announced this morning that following the departure of Edu Gaspar back in November 2024, they have appointed Andrea Berta to take over the role.
Berta, who has most recently spent almost 12 years at Atletico Madrid playing a huge role at the club, with the club winning multiple La Liga titles and the Europa League during his time.
He has told the media that he is “thrilled to be joining Arsenal in what is a hugely exciting period for the club.” Berta also added that he is “looking forward to playing [his] part in shaping a successful future with a great team.”
Arsenal Co-Chair Josh Kroenke has described Berta as “an impressive figure” with a “vast knowledge of the game”, adding that it was his “experience and success that stood out” during the recruitment process.
The 53-year-old Italian says he can’t wait to experience his “first game at Emirates Stadium” with the supporters, and Gooners will be hoping he makes his mark in the summer transfer window.
