Arsenal are weighing up making a shock €35m move for a young German striker who came fifth in the Bundelisga scoring charts last season.

Maximilian Beier hit 16 goals in 33 appearances for TSG Hoffenheim last term, which saw his exploits rewarded with a place in Die Mannschaft's provisional Euro 2024 squad announced earlier this week.

Arsenal are ready to back boss Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this summer as they bid to go one step further and win the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a centre forward to bolster their squad once more, as they bid to challenge Manchester City again next season.

The Premier League runners-up have been monitoring the market - with a move for a new centre forward mooted this summer - with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Ivan Toney of Brentford in the frame.

However, with both strikers being rated by their respective clubs at more than £60m, the Gunners are looking for better value - which €35m-rated Beier would provide.

Beier shone his way through the youth ranks of Energie Cottbus before moving to Hoffenheim at the tender age of 15.

The following season, 2019-20, Beier made his Bundesliga debut against Freiburg to become Hoffenheim's youngest-ever Bundesliga debutant.

A first pro-deal was awarded for the 2020-21 season prior to being sent out on loan to gain experience at Hannover.

Beier's loan ultimately lasted two years with the talented young striker netting 15 times with seven assists in his 68 games with Die Roten, earning him a new deal with his parent club.

Beier averaged 0.59 goals per 90 minutes and had a shot accuracy of 60 per cent last season in the Bundesliga - with Harry Kane averaging 61 per cent in terms of shot accuracy.

Arteta’s impressive side lost out on a first Premier League title in 20 years when they fell a mere two points short of the champions in a grapping title race - and are expected to invest again this summer.

Beier has appeared for German representative sides from U17s and U21s and could be the perfect fit for the Gunners seeking to bolster their attacking options.
