Arsenal defender Gabriel suffers injury for Brazil as fears rise centre-back could miss North London Derby
Gabriel speaks injury worries for Arsenal after limping off during Brazil's Emirates victory over Senegal
Arsenal's influential defender Gabriel has sparked injury worries for the Gunners ahead of the north London derby after limping off during Brazil's 2-0 win over Senegal at the Emirates.
Arsenal's influential centre-back Gabriel is to be assessed after being forced off with a groin injury in Brazil's friendly win on Saturday night in North London.
Mikel Arteta will be hoping the defender can recover in time for the crucial North London derby against Spurs a week on Sunday.
The 27-year-old pulled up off the ball just before the hour mark and received treatment to his right thigh before being substituted.
"Bad? I don't know. He had an injury in his adductor," said Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti.
"The medical staff has to check tomorrow.
"We are really sorry for this, really disappointed. When a player has an injury, you hope they can recover well and soon."
Gabriel has played a key part in Arsenal's rise to the top of the Premier League table, after conceding a measly five goals in 11 league games so far this season.
Brazil beat Senegal 2-0 with goals from young Chelsea winger Estevao, and Manchester United veteran Casemiro.
