Player Ratings: Goals from Noni and Eze seal FA Cup win at Mansfield
Find out who impressed with View From The Armchair's Player Ratings after Arsenal beat Mansfield Town 2-1 at Field Mill to reach FA Cup quarter-finals
Just Kepa: 8/10 - tested twice in a minute early on as Mansfield applied pressure. Saved well on the line late on as the Stags made a last ditch push - but it’s not to be today
Marli Salmon: 7/10 - thrust in at the deep end today in cut and thrust FA Cup tie against a League One underdog but showed a maturity way beyond his years. Showed a calm temperament when carrying the ball, a very slick prospect, and one to keep an eye on for the future for real. Subbed off for Jurrien Timber on the hour mark with more experience gained for the future to go with his previous FA Cup appearances at Portsmouth and against Wigan at the Emirates
Cristhian Mosquera: 7/10 - given problems on the left side of the defence as he was skinned for the first time in an Arsenal shirt on 11 minutes. Sloppy in possession at times. Unsure whether to stick or twist for the Mansfield goal, better days to come for our leggy defender.
Riccardo Calafiori: 7/10 - these are the kind of games where first and foremost you have to earn the right to play. Mansfield players playing the biggest game of their lives giving everything, subbed off on 75 minutes for Jayden Dixon, but not before he picked up another yellow card.
Christian Norgaard: 7/10 - in a real battle today, looked a lot more assured once Leo Trossard had made way due to his injury, and he could settle down in midfield. Mansfield gave a good account of themselves in the heart of battle, giving no respite to the former Bees captain throughout the whole match.
Max Dowman: 8.5/10- would he be able to survive the rough and tumble of such a fixture at such a young age? Yes, is the resoundibng answer. Glided through the middle and should have scored on three minutes. Was in the right place to have what should have been his second on 26 minutes but the finishing will come in time. For now though, there is still plenty to enjoy, as he became Arsenal's youngest ever player to appear in an FA Cup tie. Slid past everyone on 53 minutes and should have had what on another day could have been his hat-trick. Played well enough today to get my POTM award.
Kai Havertz: 7/10 - Underwhelming before making way on the hour mark, with the promise of better days to come.
Leo Trossard: 6/10 - largely anonymous before going down injured and needing to be replaced on 37 minutes, a continuation of his niggling injury ravaged season.
Noni Madueke: 8/10 - went close from a corner on 40 minutes when hitting the woodwork from the corner flag. Managed to put us 1-0 to the good with a beautifully struck shot hit first time from the edge of the box that flew past the Mansfield keeper. A great finish, and much needed, ultimately played a decisive part in this important win against a spirited opponent.
Gabriel Jesus: 6/10 - largely anonymous, more anonymous than Van Battering ram was against wolves recently and that is speaking volumes, somehow manages to stay on the pitch for the whole match despite being largely invisible.
Gabriel Martinelli: 8/10 - combined well with Dowman to get a shot off in a congested box on 24 minutes, looked dangerous when we manaaged to get the ball out to him, played his part in springing a few suprises on the counter attack in the second half.
Substitutes:
Piero Hincapie: 7/10 - introduced into the action on 37 minutes when replacing the stricken Trossard and instantly made Arsenal look in better shape for his arrival, we were a bit top heavy from the start against a fired up underdog in a hard fought FA Cup tie.
Ebere Eze: - 8/10 - bought into the action on 60 minutes, and put the game to bed six minutes later after getting the ball out from under his feet to fires a howitzer past the keeper to make it 2-1. Levels to this game we love to watch that is football.
Jurrien Timber: 7/10 - bought on to solidify us at the back as he replaces the youngster Salmon, proceeds to do exactly that as we keep it moving into the next round despite being given a bumpy ride throughout.
Jayden Dixon: 7/10 - made his debut on 75 minutes when replacing Calafiori a mere six weeks after joining from Stoke City
Bukayo Saka: 7/10 - Featured with 15 minutes remaining and could have maybe nicked a third. As it is we will take the win with pleasure and keep it moving onto the next fixture, Mansfield gave us quite the gale today, glad to have eased past this potential banana skin.
