Arsenal drawn away at Portsmouth in FA Cup third round
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have been draw to play Portsmouth at Fratton Park in the third round of the FA Cup
The Gunners will kick-off their bid to win a recond 15th FA Cup with a trip to the south coast in January.
The North London giants will play their FA Cup third-round tie at Portsmouth after the two teams were paired together in Monday night's draw.
Third-round ties will take place across the weekend of Saturday, January 10, with the date and kick-off time of to be announced in due course.
Arsenal last played Pompey in the FA Cup just before the pandemic back in March 2020, when we won 2-0 en route to lifting the silverware in Mikel Arteta's first season in charge.
The Gunners are unbeaten run against Portsmouth in the competition over the last five games. Pompey sit in 22nd place in the Championship.
Unlike in previous years, there are no replays if matches end as a draw, meaning all ties will go to extra-time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout to determine who makes it through to round four.
