Arsenal gear up to break bank to land £100m target
Gunners set to make £100m offer for Alexander Isak
Arsenal are gearing up for a busy summer of transfers with Mikel Arteta keen on signing a new striker while strengthening other areas in his squad - with long-term target Alexander Isak the No1 priority.
The 25-year-old Newcastle hitman missed his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Arteta's Gunners, which ensured the North Londoners sealed Champions League qualification.
While Eddie Howe's Magpies could also ensure reaching the top table of European football for next season by beating Everton at St James' Park in their final Premier League match of the season next weekend, fears are rising on Tyneside that Arsenal are preparing to break the bank to land Isak.
With Arsenal having a healthy PSR sporting director Andrea Berta has more than £120m in the kitty at his disposal, with the Gunners believed to be preparing an eye-watering £100m bid for the former Real Sociedad striker.
With a number of Arteta's squad players set to depart the Emirates this summer, including Kieran Tierney, Jorginho and Alex Zinchenko, money will be freed from the wage bill - which means Arteta could finally land the new striker he's craved after injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz left his side with a lack of attacking options in the second half of the season.
It is also understood the proposed deal for Martin Zubimendi would be unaffected by Arsenal's sensational swoop for Isak.
Isak enjoyed a stellar journey in black and white during the 2024-25 campaign, having scored 27 goals across all competitions, playing a key role in the club winning the Carabao Cup in February - and could now secure a Champions League slot by finishing the season among the top five teams in the table.
However, despite that chance, Arsenal are quietly confident they can land their man.
