Arsenal Player Ratings after Manchester United defeat Gunners

Here's an Arsenal vs Man Utd assessment by View from the unhappy, disgruntled, annoyed Armchair in the aftermath of Sunday's Premier League defeat

David Raya: 5/10 - a dark day to be an Arsenal supporter as the old foe crashes three goals against us on home turf, and takes all three points in the process, needed to be better

Jurrien Timber: 5/10 - was in and around the box when Lisandro Martinez's own goal put us 1-0 up, but that’s a long way back in the rear view mirror now

William Saliba: 5/10 - three goals shipped at home in such a massive game as this will never be a good look in the red and white of Arsenal. Three goals conceded for the first time since the 4-3 win against Luton away a couple of seasons back.

Gabriel: 5/10 - going to need the king of Brazil to tighten this ship up at the back at such a delicate time of the season, let’s hope we can galvanise and come back strong as this was a day to forget quickly and keep it moving positively.

Piero Hincapie: 3/10 - paid the price as the axe came down early, in a rarely seen quadruple substitution after only 56 minutes, as Mikel Arteta's response too going 2-1 down at home. Subbed for BW4.

Martin Odegaard: 5/10 - provided one of few highlights in this game as his angled ball into the box for Martinez's own goal got us off the mark. Despite his sliced volley across his body to put us 1-0 up on 28 minutes, it went downhill from there, and wasn’t able to open United up behind the lines as we needed.

Martin Zubimendi: 4/10 - played a first time pass back to the keeper straight Into the path of Mbuemo that was the first domino that led to this capitulation, will still be waking up in a cold sweat about it at about 4am tonight. His worst day in the office for us

Declan Rice: 5/10 - had the kind of outing that will leave Paul Scholes feeling justified on his criticism of him in the week. Felt harsh at the time but justified when you see the score at the final whistle. His side needed more than he could give against United. Along with the rest of the team, it ahs to be said, who were unable to deliver us the goods.

Bukayo Saka: 5/10 - was probably our best player but that is not anything to write home about when we ship three goals against this lot, not at home too United, not in this title race, he’s gonna need to find his best goal scoring form rapidly as we move into the business end of the season. He has the experience now, just gotta deliver the goods.

Gabriel Jesus: 5/10 - Despite his two goal San Siro salvo our Brazil striker huffed and puffed for us up front without ever really looking like any kind of spearhead threat that we required to break down this United defence. Ultimately nowhere near good enough on the day

Leo Trossard: 5/10 - despite a bright opening 20 minutes of possession where Leo looked sharp and on his game, it soon fizzled out into an ultimately crushing defeat at home against the one opponent I personally do not want to lose at home too. Anyone but this lot.

Substitutes:

Ben White: 5/10 - unable to stem the flow at the back, nor change the direction of this game when introduced, one to forget.

Ebere Eze: 4/10 - in danger of becoming a modern day Charlie Nicholas for us such was his lack of application today, if he gets a brace in the Carabao Cup final all is forgiven but please let’s get back to those Tottenham heroics yes.

Mikel Merino: 5/10 - there’s nothing good to come out of today’s result, nothing at all, even his equaliser which provided a small crumb of comfort was completely overshadowed Cunha’s instant reply from distance.

Viktor Gyokeres: 4/10 - no threat, changed nothing, write if it off and keep it moving, and probably stay off the social media for a week would be my best advice.

Noni Madueke: 4/10 - no one gets the player of the match award this week, no cinnamon buns, no awards, no nothing, it’s back to the grindstone and a clear the air meeting in that dressing as this group of players needs to wake up and decide if they want to choose to be winners this year.
