Arsenal are preparing an audacious bid to land an England striker who scored in the final of Euro 2024.
The Gunners are putting together an £80m offer to Chelsea in an attempt to land Cole Palmer - and make the 22-year-old an Arsenal player.
The coveted attacker hit 22 goals in only 33 Premier League games last term, despite featuring in an underwhelming Chelsea side that parted company with boss Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season.
The talented Palmer also scored in the showpiece Berlin event during the final of Euro 2024, which England, despite the former Manchester City attacker's late equalising goal, were unable to gain parity again, losing 2-1 to Luis De La Fuentes' La Roja.
Sporting director Edu is keen to announce a marquee signing during Arsenal's Stateside summer tour which includes matches vs Manchester United in Los Angeles on Saturday, and Liverpool in Philadelphia next week.
Arteta hopes the new arrival will be able to bed in during the tour which is proving popular with loyal Gooners across the pond - and a shock bid of around £80m would tempt Chelsea to part with the highly-rated Palmer, who it is understood would jump at the chance of appearing in the Champions League next season.
