After 12 years, the Emirates is getting a new look as Arsenal have revealed the new artwork for the exterior of the stadium.

Eight new pieces of artwork will be installed around the stadium over the coming year in pieces that represent the club for all its glory on and off the pitch.

The club have worked with fans, former players, people in the community and staff at Arsenal to come up with the intricate and quintessential art that aligns with what it means to be a part of the Arsenal culture.

The three, along with many others, responsible for the artwork are Turner-prize winning artist Jeremy Deller, critically acclaimed artist Reuben Dangoor and graphic designer David Rudnick who have been working on the designs since April 2022.

Deller expressed his delight to be involved with the project; “As an Islington resident for more than 20 years where the Emirates Stadium has been my landscape, I’m so proud to have played a part in this project.”

A breakdown of the eight pieces

Victoria Concordia Crescit: Our club motto translating to victory through harmony. The piece will display a French revolutionary style painting focusing on the legends of the club over the years.

Remember who you are: Inspired by the legendary David Rocastle quote, the piece will play homage to the immortal Highbury east stand, players and managers will be woven into the design, each tiny detail with a story of a lifetime to tell the Arsenal faithful.

Invincible: Little explanation needed. A piece to commemorate Arsenal’s 2003/04 unbeaten Premier League side, as well as the Champions League winning 06/07 Women’s side who remain the only British side to claim the prestigious trophy.

Come to see the Arsenal: A piece to fill the southbound train landscape, the piece will be viewable from southbound trains that pass the stadium. Once again inspired by Highbury and the iconic ‘Home of Football’ script.

Eighteen Eighty-Six: The year of our founding, with a nod to Highbury with ‘always forward’ captured over the historic date – authentically Arsenal.

We all follow the Arsenal: A piece that will showcase a tapestry of supporters flags representing 150 supporters groups with 187 original banners and flags woven to create an inclusive viewing no matter how far from north London.

Future brilliance: “Here you have the opportunity to get out the greatness that is in each of you.” - Arsene Wenger. A piece to display the club’s commitment to the development of young talent showcasing youth prospects turned legends of the club. A message for young people in the community that anything is possible.

Found a place where we belong: Whilst the artwork is still in process, the finished product will be simply magical. Inspired by Dennis Bergkamp’s famous quote, 721 supporters will be honoured in a terrace style piece, capturing banners and songs sung from the stands for years to cheer on the Arsenal. A piece for the fans who are everything to the club and vice versa.

Pictures of the artwork can be found on the club’s official website as well as footage from the unveiling of the plan.
