Noelle Maritz has left Arsenal Women to join Aston Villa, in Arsenal's first transfer business in the 2024 January window.

The 28-year-old has joined Carla Ward's side on a two-and-a-half year deal, with the option of a further year.

Maritz joined Arsenal from Wolfsburg in 2020, and was part of the side that won the 2022 Conti Cup, beating Chelsea in the final. She made 92 appearances for the Gunners, scoring two goals.

The Swiss international's contract was due to expire this coming summer.

Maritz had found herself playing second fiddle to Katie McCabe at right-back, despite McCabe being a left-sided player.

Arsenal's only other right-back, Laura Wienroither, remains sidelined with a long-term ACL injury.
