Arsenal's time is now but Arteta's Gunners have to be brave enough to seize it starting at Leeds United
Enough of Europe for now, the real business begins again on Saturday says Charlie Ashmore as Arsenal gear up for tough clash at Leeds United
The biggest game of the week was not of course on Wednesday night.
No, the 3-2 win over Kairat Almaty in the Champions League was a bit of fun in the context of our season.
Saturday is huge. We have dropped seven points out of nine. Even if our chasers have not taken advantage.
But we cannot keep dropping points.
Leeds is now a must win game (don’t they all feel like that).
Drop points and our margin for error is likely to be removed. We simply cannot afford that. The ability to rest most of our first team against Kairat was huge, and we need to take full advantage ahead of a big week next week with the second leg against Chelsea to come.
Mikel Arteta has some decisions to make. He has almost a full squad to choose from so that means two players in every position.
I would love to see Kai Havertz play but he only had 45 minutes against the Kazakhs – is he fit enough to go again on Saturday?
Ben White or Jurrien Timber? Does Arteta go for full control in midfield or introduce a bit of chaos into the mix?
Who plays up front? Who plays on the left?
Big decisions…and they need to be right for what will undoubtedly be a tough match in a hostile environment.
Whoever he picks, it’s time for them collectively to be brave, to seize the day and start lengthening their stride as we head towards the home straight.
Our time is now…..but we have to brave enough to seize it.
