Arsenal Set For Another New Face After United Disappointment

Having enjoyed a very good, but ultimately disappointing 2022/23 Premier League campaign as Arsenal lost their title advantage late on to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side, manager Mikel Arteta is determined to again be a thorn in their side in the coming 2023/24 season.

Pre season is well underway, and Arsenal have already backed the gaffer with around £200 million already spent on bringing in the likes of Chelsea's 24 year old Kai Havertz for a reported £65 million.

After a bit of a saga, West Ham United and England midfielder Declan Rice joined up with us reportedly paying £105 million for the 24 year old, and the third deal was for 22 year old Ajax defender Jurrien Timber, who apparently cost another £40 million.

For those who like a flutter, and particularly after their spending so far, there are no doubt decent odds available on just what kind of season Arsenal will now have, they are currently priced at 9/2 with Betway to win the Premier League next year.

Although spirits are low right now after the pre season defeat to Manchester United last weekend, Arteta knows there is a long way to go, and it seems that in an effort to further strengthen us, provide options and depth, we are not yet done in the transfer market either.

Speaking immediately following the game, he explained: "I hate to lose, that we all hate to lose. I don't like the feeling I have right now.

"This season is going to be more challenging, more difficult. They had already played two games before this one and we knew the test was going to be really demanding. The boys have to train right now, in that space thinking how we are going to be better to win the next match."

Some fans have pointed to the fact that it seems we are following each United States friendly with a full training session, so naturally the players will be incredibly leggy by now, but the benefit of that workload will come later in the season.

Others point to United being slightly ahead of us in terms of game time, but either way, even for pre season the defeat smarts a bit.If recent reports this week are to be believed, there could soon be another player adjusting to life under Arteta's charge and that could be Gremio midfielder Bitello.

It is being claimed that we have now roughly agreed a fee of around £6.8 million for the 23 year old and there is an expectation that the deal for the Brazilian will be concluded this week.

We could also soon see a fresh departure as well. It was claimed on Tuesday that forward Florian Balogun trained away from the group in the most recent session as we prepared for the Barcelona friendly.

The news come amidst strong speculation suggesting that Italian Serie A side Inter Milan are in the process of launching a 45 million Euro offer for the 22 year old given the success he had out on loan last season in Ligue 1 with Reims.

It feels like Arsenal's business is not yet fully complete.
