Arsenal Women 2-0 West Ham Women
Two goals by Frida Maanum seals pre-season win over West Ham in Meadow Park friendly
A second half brace by substitute Frida Maanum earned Renee Slegers side victory over West Ham Women on Wednesday evening at Meadow Park.
Despite the Gunners dominating proceedings in front of a crowd of 2,495 in a low key friendly ahead of the return of the WSL on the first weekend in September, it took until the 72nd minute for the home side to break the deadlock.
Jenna Nighswonger's cross finding No12 Maanum who guided her header low into the far corner to put Arsenal ahead.
Eight minutes later, Maanum - who entered the fray at half time amid a raft of changes - doubled the lead with a clinical low finish past Irons keeper Kinga Szemik.
Mariona Caldentey missed the match in a bid to manage the Spain star's 'workload' ahead of the new campaing, while Arsenal's £1m summer signing Olivia Smith also featured after the interval, as the Gunners clinched victory to banish memories of their 4-3 defeat to Spurs at the weekend.
