Arsenal Women captain Kim Little on lifting the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup

The Arsenal skipper was crowned player of the match in this evening's final and she spoke to the media afterwards

This evening, Kim Little became the only club captain in the world to have lifted the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup after her Arsenal side beat SC Corinthians 3-2 in the final.

The final was played at the familiar Emirates Stadium, and it took going to extra time for the Gunners to get the job done, which they did through Caitlin Foord’s 104th-minute strike.

After collecting her medal and lifting the brand-new trophy, Little spoke to the media and reflected on her post-match thoughts.

She said: “It’s just another special moment for this great club who have a great legacy and are trailblazers in the women’s game.

“For us to have won this Champions Cup is really special and obviously incredible to be at our stadium in North London with a lot of our fans.”

The competition came right in the middle of Arsenal’s busy domestic and European schedule. Little discussed the feeling of winning a trophy mid-season.

She said: “It’s quite a unique experience to play in a club competition for FIFA, which there obviously hasn’t been.

“It’s quite different, especially mid-season, but we had a good week of preparation for teams we’d never played against.

“It was great to do, as players, we always want to challenge ourselves.”

Little praised her team, who rode out the storm of a last-minute penalty equaliser in normal time from SC Corinthians, to then gain and hold the lead in extra time.

She said: “It was a very eventful game, ultimately there was a lot going on.

“Credit to the team for being resilient and coming back after conceding late on and putting on a really strong performance in extra time to win the match.”

The last time Arsenal won a trophy, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, in May 2025, the celebrations were large, but Little seemed to suggest they’d be more understated this time, as the focus switches back to the WSL.

She said: “We’ll obviously celebrate the moment, I think that’s always important when you achieve things.

“We’ll do that together, in a considered way, and then obviously our focus will change to our next league game, which is next weekend.”

Speaking to The Gooner Fanzine, Little expressed her hope that this win will boost the rest of Arsenal’s season.

She said: “It’s a unique time to win a trophy this early, but we hope it can accelerate us and push us on for more of that this season.”

If Arsenal do win more trophies, Little assured The Gooner that nothing will change the tradition of her and Leah Williamson lifting the silverware together.

She said: “Always. That will always be the case.”
