Arsenal Women full-back Emily Fox will be available for selection as the Gunners travel to Stamford Bridge to face rivals Chelsea on Saturday lunchtime.
Fox was substituted with what appeared to be a head injury against Aston Villa in the first half of Sunday’s FA Cup win, and missed the midweek defeat at home to Manchester United.
Arsenal will be without Olivia Smith, who was sent off against United in the Subway Cup loss, and serves a one-game suspension.
Leah Williamson and Chloe Kelly “are progressing well, but won’t be available,” head coach Renee Slegers confirmed. Kyra Cooney-Cross returned from Australia in the week after travelling home for personal reasons, with Slegers providing an update on the midfielder.
“She's just come back. She was in with us when we restarted in January, but then she only had two sessions and travelled back to Australia to see her family. So she needs to build fitness to be ready to play games, so she won’t be in the squad tomorrow.”
Slegers’ side have never won at Stamford Bridge, and come into the game four points behind the second-place outfit. “I think the [recent] performances have been good,” the 36-year-old reflected.
“We have belief and the players play with confidence in that sense. I believe in the players and what they're doing. I think it's a good moment and we always love to play these big games. The players rise to the occasion.
“We know the task tomorrow. We want to win, we need to win, we need points. In one way it creates clarity in what we want to achieve and what we're going after tomorrow.”
