Declan Rice named Champions League Player of the Week after stunning free-kick brace vs Real Madrid
Rice beat PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski and Bayern Munich's Alessandro Bastoni to coveted award
Declan Rice has been named Champions League Player of the Week following his two superb free-kicks against Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old midfielder beat Thibaut Courtois twice in a matter of mintues with two magnificent free-kicks that set the Gunners on the way to a never-to-be-forgotten evening in North London.
Rice made Champions League history when scoring two direct free-kick goals in a knockout stage match, while it was only the fifth time a player had scored more than one in the same game, joining an exclusive club containing Cristiano Ronaldo, Hakim Ziyech, Neymar and Rivaldo.
He has now scored four goals in our last three home Champions League matches, taking his tally up to seven for the campaign, matching last season's output.
Voted for by supporters, Declan beat Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski and Alessandro Bastoni of Bayern Munich to the award.
Rice, Jurrien Timber and William Saliba were all named in the Champions League Team of the Week after their outstanding performances against Madrid.
