Not least in pulling this issue together in time to hit the streets for Arsenal Women vs Chelsea this weekend, ahead of a busy month including hosting Real Madrid and Twente at Meadow Park, and Liverpool at the Emirates in December.
It was great to note Beth Mead shared GW photographer Suzy’s brilliant shot of her goal celebrations in Lisbon, as one of the few UK snappers present at the Stadium of Light.
Something we are very proud of as we constantly aim to grow our coverage, and our presence, in a bid make GW a dispensable part of your matchday routine. BTW if you enjoy GW please do tell a friend, as word of mouth is so important in helping us to build bigger. Or better still why not pick up a copy as a treat for a loved one.

Steve Ashford RIP
I must admit it’s been a tough couple of weeks after the sad passing of Steve Ashford – aka Highbury Spy.
Quite simply the Gooner Fanzine, nor GW, would exist without the unstinting efforts of Steve, and so many others over the last 30+ years, that has led us to where we proudly now have our dedicated women’s issue GW running alongside the Gooner Fanzine.
While Steve was bravely battling leukaemia, prior to his subsequent stem cell transplant, we often exchanged messages about Arsenal Women, among so many other things as time sadly slipped away.
In his inimitable forthright fashion, he was emphatic in his support of Renee Slegers’ appointment, as he was never a fan of the previous regime, not least after Viv Miedema’s departure.
From his hospital bed, Steve was delighted with our success in Lisbon and took a great interest in GW.
Which is why we are running Kevin Whitcher’s heartfelt tribute in the pages of the latest GW.
If you would like to read further tributes please visit onlinegooner.com, as well as my own Substack Layth’s Take. RIP Steve, so many people are going to miss you mate.
