How Eddie Nketiah could hold the key to the arrival of Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal are willing to sell Eddie Nketiah to pave the way for the arrival of coveted striker Benjamin Sesko.

With FFP limiting the amount the Premier League giants can spend within the rules, the north Londoners may have to sell before they can buy.

With Nketiah rated at around £35m - with Fulham and Crystal Palace said to be interested in the south London-born attacker - Arsenal could channel any funds received into a transfer war chest in a bid to land the highly-regarded Sesko.

It is understood that Gunners are keen to sign a top level front man before the European Championships start later this month in Germany - or at the very latest prior to Mikel Arteta's squad reporting back for pre-season training ahead of their Stateside trip to America in late July.

Sporting director Edu is desperate to secure the signing of the highly-rated 21-year-old RB Leipzig forward - with cordial, low-key discussions already taking place after Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic was spotted at the Emirates when Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-0 in late April.

Arsenal are keen to avoid a transfer tug of war with London rivals Chelsea for the key signature of the Slovenian forward.

However, Arsenal and Edu will have to move quickly amid competition from Chelsea - and Manchester United - as well as the threat of Leipzig removing the cut-price release clause from Sesko's paperwork.

It is understood Sesko has release clause of just £55m in his contract at the Red Bull Arena - which would be considerably cheaper than Arsenal attempting to Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Ivan Toney of Brentford.
