Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has suggested that his side will be looking to bring in a goalkeeper before the end of the January transfer window.

“We need to cover for a particular one situation, and that is the Gold Cup that we have coming up in February and March,” said Eidevall.

“We have a very high likelihood of having one of our goalkeepers [Sabrina D’Angelo of Canada] being selected for that, and we can’t really predict on how the availability is going to be for the rest of our goalkeepers during that period, or how long that period is going to be.

“So ideally we bring someone in to help us through that period, in order to manage that risk in a good way.”

Asked if French goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi could be a player of interest for Arsenal, Eidevall said: “She would also be a player here that we would prefer getting in, but we will need to wait until things are finalised. She could be an ideal candidate coming in short-term with her experience, leadership qualities and qualities as a goalkeeper as well.”

20-year-old midfielder Kathrine Kuhl has been strongly linked with a move to Everton, and Eidevall commented on the reports: “Our preference with Ke would be to go to Everton on loan, for a number of reasons.

“I think the style of play they have would suit her in-possession abilities a lot. I think her number one thing to work and develop will be decision-making, and in order to do so she will need to be on the ball a lot of times, and I know she will be an important part of what they are trying to build.

“Also, because she has worked with the Everton manager before, I think that’s a really strong indicator for me that he knows her as both a player and as a person, so you can never get assurances in football but I think this is as close as you can get it, that she will get a lot of game time for them.”
