Arsenal defender Katie Reid has suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 19-year-old sustained the injury in a recent training session, the club confirmed, and is likely to miss the remainder of the season. She will undergo surgery in the coming days.
Arsenal stated: "Katie is being closely supported by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre, and everyone at Arsenal looks forward to seeing her return to action as soon as possible."
Reid shared on Instagram: "i am devastated to share that i have ruptured my ACL. there’s been lots of tears and i am sure there will be many more to come, but i am extremely grateful for the love and support around me. the road to recovery starts now and i’ll give my all to be back stronger."
Brighton loanee Michelle Agyemang, a fellow Hale End graduate, and goalkeeper Manu Zinsberger were both sidelined last month with ACL injuries.
Reid missed Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, after being unavailable for England due to a groin issue in the recent international break. She came off the bench against Leicester earlier this month.
Gutting for Katie Reid who missed the chance for her senior England debut due to injury after such an impressive start to the season, and will now be out for an extended period. Huge loss for Arsenal too, as she's been that good.
