Letter From Paris: Mikel Arteta and Arsenal took on us on a memorable journey
Loyal Gooner Tia Thorne from Paris: I'm proud of our team and manager - so should you all be too
Ah, that was gut wrenching.
A night where history could have been made, a night where our history was potentially going to be extended.
It's over, the chapter is closed.
I am absolutely gutted that our dream to Munich was cut just one game short of making that
Champions League Final, the boys and Mikel Arteta did us all extremely proud, and took us not only on a memorable journey, but one full of hope and dreams for the future.
I arrived in Paris on Tuesday morning, already feeling the anticipation in the city, one of us or PSG was heading to that final, one that neither have won before.
The beautiful city of Paris was the definition of the calm before the storm, spending that evening seeing who would take the first place in the final. Some game that was!
Tuesday night I was going to bed anxious but also so excited, this time tomorrow we could be in a Champions League Semi Final.
Wednesday was all about keeping busy, visiting the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and all of the classic tourist sites to see, doing my best to keep tonight to the back of my mind which of course I couldn’t!!
As the evening came, I unfortunately didn’t have a ticket to the game, but that didn’t stop us in the pubs, chanting and cheering on the boys for the biggest game we have been in in a long time.
Those first 15 minutes, was full of confidence and positivity, I genuinely thought if we scored any of those three chances we 100% get a second and go through, Donnaruma had other ideas.
Annoying to concede yet another goal outside the box and make our mission a lot harder and our dreams start drifting away, David Raya had his say in the game by making a huge penalty save to keep the aggregate score at 2-0 but unfortunately that didn’t stop PSG.
If only that Saka goal was to make it even 1-1 on the night I think it would have been a different story but unfortunately, don't dream its over.
I cant begin to say how proud I am of these players and manager, you should all be too.
Don’t worry Gooners, it’s coming.
