Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is being targeted by French giants Marseille for a bargain £20m.

Marseille, now led by former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, are looking to bolster their squad by making a cut price offer of £20m for the Gunners 25-year-old forward.

Olympique de Marseille have tentatively approached Nketiah's advisers over the possibility of joining the southern French club with De Zerbi hoping to boost their attacking options this summer.

Discussions have reportedly been initiated with Nketiah’s representatives Elite Project Group, with the Lambeth-born attacker said to be open to the prospect of a move to the Mediterranean port city.

Nketiah knows his time is almost up at the Gunners after a nine year spell in which he failed to stake a permanent claim as a striker.

With Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta currently on the lookout for a striker - with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus invariably playing ahead of Nketiah in the central striker position last season - the move to France could rejuevenate his career, while receiving crucial funds to assign to a new striker.

The Spaniard’s pursuit of new faces up front could spell the end to Nketiah’s nine years at the Emirates Stadium after moving from the Chelsea academy in 2015.

De Zerbi's arrival has already seen two new faces at L'OM with Lilian Brassier (24) and Ismaël Koné (22) joining recently.

Nketiah could be the ideal signing for the French giants Marseille as they look to improve from last term’s frustrating campaign that saw them post their worst league finish since the 2015-16 campaign while also missing out on Europe.
