Mikel Merino named Arsenal men's Player of the Month for March
Arsenal's makeshift striker Mikel Merino has been named the club's men’s Player of the Month winner for March.
The 28-year-old has been in great form as the focal point of our injury hit attacking options - and has shone since covering for the injured Kai Havertz after the German striker ruptured his hamstring during the Gunners trip to Dubai at the end of January.
The Spanish midfielder's efforts have been rightly recognised by Gooners everywhere - with 39% opting to pick him as our star performer last month.
Declan Rice came second, with February’s victor Ethan Nwaneri finishing in third.
Mikel's merits
Having already notcehd a brace at Leicester City in February, Mikel scored in the Netherlands in early March during the memorable 7-1 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven.
The former Real Sociedad midfielder then grabbed the winner against Chelsea to take his goal tally to six for the season - with his five in the league matching his best-ever career total - a figure he has since surpassed due to another goal against Fulham on the first day of April.
Mikel's predatory insticnts also saw him score for the Spainish national side during their Nations League quarter-final against the Netherlands.
Not to menton following up colleague Rice's tremendous double, with the third in the never-to-be-forgotten 3-0 victory over Real Madrid earlier this week.
