Arsenal goalscorer Mikel Merino hails passionate Gooners after scoring in 3-0 victory over Real Madrid
Arsenal's makeshift striker Mikel Merino made it an impressive - and unlikely - eight goals for the season when scoring a superb third for the team on a never-to-be-forgotten evening at the Emirates.
The 28-year-old - who has now scored more goals against Real Madrid than any other club - sealed a magnificent triumph for the Gunners when demolishing Carlo Ancelotti's European royalty on a passionate night in North London.
Arsenal recorded one of their greatest results at their Emirates stadium on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
Speaking after the match, humble hero Merino took time out to praise the club's support, saying: "We were talking in the dressing room about keeping the pace and tempo. Obviously with the help of the crowd on our side, that second half was amazing.
"We started full gas from the beginning. When this team goes like this, the crowd comes with us and it makes everything easier."
