Player Ratings: Arsenal 1-2 Bournemouth
View From The Armchair gives his Arsenal Player Ratings after a disappointing defeat
Arsenal conceded twice from set pieces as Bournemouth came from behind to win 2-1 at the Emirates on Saturday evening.
Declan Rice put Arsenal ahead on his 100th appearance but Dean Huijsen scored from a long throw, then Evanilson squeezed home from a corner to give the Cherries a deserved victory
David Raya: 6/10 - money for nothing and your chicks for……oh no……..66 mins beaten by a long throw in….75 minutes bobbles one off his knee and into the net. 2-1 Bournemouth. Not good
Ben White: 6.5/10 - absolutely skinned after two minutes, and again on 58 minutes when he appeared to be stuck in quicksand. Looked short of match sharpness, when pressed at the back, occasionally ok going forwards, needs game time to regain confidence.
William Saliba: 6/10 - the engine was purring on our Rolls Royce centre back, calm and composed at the back, right up until we were undone by a long throw in on 66 minutes, and a second soon followed.
Jakub Kiwior: 6/10 - I’m still taking some time to get used to what I used to know as ‘messing about with it at the back’ football, Kiwior is probably a little bit the same I feel, looks happier when he gets a charge upfield occasionally.
Myles Lewis Skelly: 6.5/10 - showed a bit of gamesmanship on 22 minutes a seasoned Maldini would have been proud of, which drew chants of 'Same old Arsenal, always cheating' from the away fans. Decent distribution throughout.
Thomas Partey: 7/10 - must get him re-signed in the summer in my opinion, makes this team tick, started well but came undone in the second half after a spirited Bournemouth comeback, one of our better performers on an off day.
Declan Rice: 7/10 10 - half priced midfield powerhouse playing his 100th game for the Gunners today, dragged his shot wide on 14 minutes, emphasised his importance on 34 minutes with a beautifully taken goal, might have done a bit better in the box for the equaliser, taken off on 73 minutes.
Martin Odegaard 7/10 - plenty of energy early on, combative pressing, silky smooth touch, find it hard to believe he has some knockers online, provided the assist for first goal, we are lucky to have him, get behind him.
Gabi Martinelli: 7/10 - lightning pace on the left hand side, shot narrowly wide on 27 mins, marshalled by two defenders every time he got the ball, another big night on Wednesday and a chance to shine.
Leandro Trossard: 6.5/10 - super unlucky not to score on 31 mins with a glancing header, did well holding the ball up and linking the play, ultimately looked a bit lightweight as our main goal threat.
Bukayo Saka: 6.5/10 - very quiet in the opening period, struggled to make any telling impact in the first half, still put in a shift at the back, shot narrowly over the bar on 56 mins, worryingly subdued with Wednesday night in mind.
Substitutes:
Mikel Merino: 6/10 - had a little bit longer to make an impact failed to do so.
Alex Zinchenko: 6/10 - failed to make a difference when introduced
Raheem Sterling: 6/10 - see above ad Infinitum, get him back to Chelsea please boss and never ever sign anyone from there ever again, thank you.
Ethan Nwaneri: 6.5/10 - should be getting a full run out, this is no time to be thinking of pools and sunshine, not yet, not yet at all.
View From The Armchair's Verdict:
Massively disappointing but credit where credit is due, Bournemouth put in a spirited display and deservedly won and took all three points at the emirates for the first time, and completing the double in the process, all about Wednesday now.
Crowd rating - Jesus said paddy you sung it quite well, considering the title race is over, but he still thinks you should get up and sing it again, over and over and over again, little bit louder and more of you doing so, especially after we went 2-1 down, the Emirates needs to become a cauldron, COYG
