Player Ratings: Arsenal 4-1 Spurs as Eberechie Eze's magnificent treble means North London Is Red once again
Magnificent Arsenal routed sorry Spurs 4-1 with Exe grabbing a hattrick as Gunners win North London Derby to move six points clear at the top of the Premier League
Find out who impressed (clue: all of them) with View From The Armchair's Player Ratings on a day to remember for Gooners everywhere.
David Raya: 8/10 - clean sheet goes on 55 minutes, the only way the Premier League's finest libero can be beaten, the halfway line chip.
Jurrien Timber: 8/10 - when we needed a solid right back, who delivers clean sheets and assists, we have one, like a beefed up angry version of Lauren, marching his way to greatness in Arsenal colours here today.
William Saliba: 8/10 - glad he’s not injured today for this game, has not put a single foot wrong all game, be a bit gutted to lose the clean sheet, but probably not as much as Gabriel if here playing today.
Piero Hincapie: 8/10 - a chance to show his quality, against real pony opposition, absolutely love to see it, that’s right you read that here first, magnificent display at the heart of the defence alongside Saliba.
Riccardo Calafiori: 8/10 - look at him with the mane, like he just took Maximus’ head off in the Coliseum just for giggles, even if he was off the pace a little bit at the start of the second half.
Eberechie Eze: 9.5/10 - Oh my days. What a performance. Where to start? How about that ball for Rice, so close after only three minutes to set the tone for the day. Absolutely magnifcent from Eze throughout when roaming, prodding, probing. Grabbed his first goal on 41 minutes with a blistering finish to make it 2-0, just in time for some half time adverts, and then some more and then it’s Eze oh my goodness me, it’s 3-0 a minute after the break with his second, before grabbing his third on 75 minutes to make it, lol, 4-1, with his Hat Trick. He’s given us the maverick performance I have been craving. Cements his name in the Arsenal history books today. MOTM! Give the man that ball!
Martin Zubimendi: 8/10 - cometh the hour, he’s not going to be out muscled today, this match will be a highlight reel for the ages. A barely noticeable 8/10 performance such was the pick of the other players today.
Declan Rice: 9/10 - dominant from the first whistle. Three feet either side of the keeper and he has put us one nil to the good with that buddy holly after only 180 seconds.First touch assist from the footballing gods for Eze’s goal and Arsenal's second. His reading of the game today was exemplary, rocking a consistent 9 most games these days.
Bukayo Saka: 8.5/10 - first touch on 16 mins draws gasps from the stands, winning free kicks, whips one narrowly over the bar, draws a yellow card on 32 minutes, goes close on 71 minutes with a curling shot. Starboy morphing into the Greenford Trouble maker before our very eyes.
Mikel Merino: 8/10 - big game time, make yourself a hero time, run his socks off up front chasing down, not an easy task, don’t get no awards for that, gets it on 37 mins with a majestic assist. Also gets some stick for going down too easily from Gary Neville.
Leo Trossard: 9/10 - out the traps like a raceground hare, grey haired one, cracked his knees like Odegaard on 12 minutes, runs it off and back into the fray, scratch that he’s a grey squirrel of a footballer, come to nick your chestnuts off ya. 37 minutes it’s 1-0, deft run behind the defence, calm finish on the spin. Just time for an assist for Eze as he gets the match ball.
Substitutes:
Noni Madueke: 8/10 - on for Trossard, instant impact as Ashburton Grove comes to life, barely a Tottenham supporter in the away end, lays one on a plate for Eze’s 4th, ah, but it’s not to be.
Ethan Nwaneri: 8/10 - defenders? Who needs 'em against this lot, bonus point for the audacity of getting onto the pitch 4-1 up against the neighbours, on for Merino.
Mosquera: 8/10 - on for Hincapie, my goodness what a squad of players we have here as the away end gets even more deserted. Just enough time for a chorus of Ole’s as we crush Tottenham’s will to even participate for much longer.
Myles Lewis Skelly: 8/10 - oh look he needs some minutes quick on for Califiori on 92 minutes, just enough time to out jump van de Ven here, hopefully, please, god willing, let’s get this lad some England caps.
View From The Armchair Verdict:
Well that’s a wrap from armchair, good promising signs that some of the injured soldiers are ready to get back into action.
Shout out to the ‘whoooooo’ massive for every Spurs sub that came on, loving your work by the way...
Crowd watch:
Promising start, followed by tension and frustration at the Spurs time wasting tactics on display stifled our drive, be the 12th man, gotta find a way to raise the din, standing sections maybe? I dunno, but we need to find a way to raise the roof.
Mind you, Eze provided us with the answer, giving us the performance we have craved, let the man cook, what a day to be alive, what a day to be a Gooner as Arsenal run out comfortable 4-1 winners.
Celebrate Gooners! Ooh to ooh to be ooh to be a Gooner! Let’s go!
