FT: Arsenal U19s 4-2 Bayern Munich U19s
Arsenal U19s staged an enthralling comeback to beat their German counterparts 4-2 at Meadow Park on Wednesday lunchtime - including a brace from Max Dowman.
The Young Guns fell 1-0 behind in the 24th minute through the Bavarians No9, Yll Gashi.
In a hard-fought clash the home side equalised through none other than Max Dowman, who slotted home with a neat finish from close range to make it 1-1 shortly before the interval.
As the clock ticked down towards half time, Arsenal U19s keeper Jack Porter saved Bayern’s penalty to keep the scores level.
Bayern hit the post in the opening stages of the second half following a swift break.
However, Kyran Thompson scored the Gunners second goal to make it 2-1, prior to Ceadach O'Neill netting the Young Guns’ third to make it 3-1.
There was still time for the visitors to pull a goal back to make it 3-2, but despite six additional minutes announced, Arsenal held on to post their first victory of a challenging campaign with a superb late second goal from Dowman, who showed quick feet and a superb finishing to seal a deserved win.
