After failing to score in 395 minutes of football against Arsenal, Leicester netted twice in two minutes against the Gunners in the first half thanks to goals from Sam Tierney and Janice Cayman.

Arsenal quickly turned the game around in the second half as Lacasse and Russo pulled the Gunners level. Caitlin Foord netted the goal of the game to put Arsenal in front before Pelova, Blackstenius and Hurtig sealed all three points.

Jonas Eidevall’s side were without Kim Little, Jen Beattie, Laia Codina, Lia Walti as well as long term absentees Leah Williamson, Laura Wienroither and Teyah Goldie.

Player ratings:

Manu Zinsberger 5/10

Completely static for both goals, watching the ball hit the back of the net twice in three minutes.

Steph Catley 6/10

Gave the ball away too often in the first half but was excellent after the break.

Amanda Ilestedt 5.5/10

Good in the air to defend set pieces, but is still yet to look really comfortable in the Arsenal backline.

Lotte Wubben-Moy 6/10

Made a crucial tackle to deny Deanne Rose from scoring but was watching the post rather than Tierney when the Leicester skipper headed the Foxes into the lead. Cayman was allowed to run in between her and Ilestedt for the second.

Katie McCabe 6.5/10

Started at right-back to allow Noelle Maritz a rare rest on the bench. Drifted into the midfield at times in the second half, swapping with Pelova.

Victoria Pelova 8/10

Hit the side netting early on with a strong effort and almost made it 1-0 with a lob over Leitzig. Made her mark to net Arsenal’s fourth before two excellent through-balls to set up Blackstenius and Hurtig.

Kyra Cooney-Cross 6.5/10

Made her first WSL start after enjoying her full Arsenal debut on Wednesday night. Maturing quickly into the red and white shirt- certainly seems at home with the physicality of the WSL. Played a key role in setting up Pelova's goal, driving forward on the counter.

Frida Maanum 5.5/10

Started in the number ten role having scored four goals in four previous meetings with Leicester, but couldn’t make her mark on this occasion.

Caitlin Foord 7/10

Assisted Lacasse’s goal with a long ball from deep and scored her own delightful effort to put Arsenal in front.

Alessia Russo 7/10

Watched very closely by Sophie Howard who was constantly physical with the England forward. Poor marking to allow Petterman a free header to assist Leicester’s opener, but the striker made up for it by equalising for Arsenal.

Cloe Lacasse 8/10

Booked for a foul on Hannah Cain at the end of the first half. Pulled a goal back for Arsenal with a calm and composed finish after a tenacious run in behind. Deserves her Voulez-Vous chant from the Arsenal faithful!

Lina Hurtig (Sub, 67’) 7.5/10

Unlucky to hit the post with a clever finish. A positive impact from the Swedish winger who then scored deep into added time, timing her run to perfection and slipping the ball past the keeper.

Stina Blackstenius (Sub, 67’) 7/10

Ran the line well and took her goal nicely, a similar finish to that of Wednesday night.

Beth Mead (Sub, 67’) 6.5/10

Caused problems for Leicester on the right wing and hit the post in stoppage time before having an excellent chance saved.

Kathrine Kuhl (Sub, 90+1’)

Noelle Maritz (Sub, 90+6’)

Subs not used: Sabrina D’Angelo, Naomi Williams, Vivianne Miedema, Vivienne Lia.
