Find out who impressed for Arsenal after the Gunners beat Port Vale 2-0 with View From The Armchair's unique Player Ratings

Kepa: 7.5 - VFTA too bone idle to go to matches, equally too lazy to spell that surname not even going to attempt it, in goal we have Kepa, if he didn’t want to leave the pitch playing for Chelsea, he will want to handcuff himself to the posts getting a game in this Arsenal team, shaky last 10 minutes, little else to be concerned about once Leo slotted home the second.

Ben White: 7/10 - another one to benefit from a rotation system. Subbed on 70 mins after a solid display

William Saliba: 7.5/10 - Rolls Royce surprisingly given a run out. A few misplaced passed here and there, largely comfortable all night long to seal a clean sheet

Mosquera: 7/5/10 - lovely to be able to rest Gabriel, and barely even notice the change, settled in as well as any player I can recall, shifted to right back late in the game, job well done onto the next one.

Myles Lewis Skelly: 7.5/10 - back in the team playing in a fixture that would have been one of his only chances to get a game but for his rapid rise, assist for Eze the first of many on eight minutews, tucked in, defended well, job well done.

Ethan Nwaneri: 7/10 - relished the opportunity to stamp his mark from the off, industrious throughout, happy to defend as if we were clinging on with one minute left in a Champions League final, a job well done.

Christian Norgaard: 7.5/10 - given a start, I’m seeing a great signing who is going to come in very handy for us, whether it’s enough to keep him satisfied remains to be seen. No complaints here with his nights work.

Eberechie Eze: 8/10 - Eight minutes in and he has his first goal for the Gunners, opens his body and slides it into the bottom corner past the keeper beautifully. Subbed for Rice on 80 minutes after a good night's work

Gabi Martinelli: 7.5/10- back out on the left wing, having been Arsenal's main man as a striker over the last two games, subbed for Trossard on 80 mins.

Mikel Merino: 7/10 - thrown in upfront tonight, given a chance to shut down the online troll community, let’s get it right they aren’t supporters - that’s what the block button is for I guess, I’m with him all the way COYG

Bukyo Saka: 7.5/10 - given the captains armband, took a whack on 53 minutes as the studs went in on top of his foot, horrible challenge. Replaced by Max Dowman on 62 minutes.

Max Dowman: 7.5/10 - a boy thrown in against men, as Port Vale threw in the kitchen sink to try and find the equaliser. Didn't look out of place as he proves the theory there are levels to this game. A buzz of excitement whenever the ball came close to him. So hungry to get a goal he takes three opposing players with him wherever he wanders

Gyokeres: 7/10 - Europe’s best striker as voted for by god knows who or by what criteria, but we will take it anyway called into action on 70 minutes

Gabriel: 7.5/10 - Called into action on 70 minutes, as Mikel Arteta strengthened the spine to quell Vale's spirited and gutsy performance at home. Such a disciplined effort from the Gunners, no chances taken, another clean sheet for him to celebrate.

Declan Rice: 7/10 - Arteta took no chances, introducing the cream of the crop to shut out Port Vales determined efforts as the clock ticked down. Clear to see the Carabao Cup is as high on the agenda as any of the other cups - and so should it be, silverware is the name of the game this year.

Leo Trossard: 8/10 - Levels in the game, like a cat, a grey haired one, toying with its prey, clinically dispatched the ball from the edge of the area to make it 2-0 on 87 minutes, and allows me to mop my brow as I won’t have to completely rewrite my Player Ratings in the process.

View From The Armchair Verdict:

Gotta give a special shoutout to Port Vale rocking a beautiful traditional white kit, with zero advertising on the front, no sponsor to be seen. Football shirts are just sexier when they aren’t a walking advert I feel, and it doesn’t happen often.

Comfortable night's work for the Gunners who were far too disciplined, with too much quality to let this banana skin trip us up in the Potteries.

The big games keep on coming, it’s Newcastle next up, we move, COYG.

Too hard to call for a MOTM performance  tonight so I’m gonna award it to the whole team for the discipline they showed in getting through this fixture.
