Preview: Manchester United vs Arsenal Women

Arsenal travel to Leigh Sports Village tomorrow to take on Manchester United, here's what to expect

It’s a heavyweight showdown in the Women’s Super League this Sunday with both sides heading into the clash with two wins from two, making this a genuine early-season test of title credentials.

Arsenal’s Perspective

Renée Slegers’ side will arrive in confident form, having scored five against West Ham last weekend and showing resilience by coming from behind in both league matches so far. With goals flowing already this season, the Gunners look sharp in attack. Alessia Russo, who struck against United in this fixture last season, could be pivotal once again as she faces her former club.

Slegers has spoken about the need to match United’s intensity but also emphasised the strong start Arsenal have made to the campaign, noting the rapid development across the league. The challenge now is to maintain momentum against direct rivals.

United’s Approach

Marc Skinner’s Manchester United have also begun brightly, dispatching Leicester City 4-0 and London City Lionesses 5-1 before booking their Champions League group stage place with a comeback against Brann.

Their attacking options, including Elisabeth Terland and Melvine Malard, have hit form quickly, whilst new signing Jess Park and captain Maya Le Tissier have also added to the goals.

Skinner has warned his side must adapt throughout the match, knowing Arsenal will be fresh and dangerous. At home, however, United will back themselves to continue their strong form.

The Occasion

When these two sides met at the Emirates last season, Arsenal edged a thrilling 4-3. With both attacks already firing this term, Sunday promises another high-octane encounter. The stakes are clear: early points in the title race and the chance to strike a psychological blow against a major rival.

Kick off is at 2:50pm and the match will be broadcast on BBC One
