Arsenal Women are closing in on the signing of England star Chloe Kelly on a permanent contract.
Kelly joined the Gunners on loan in January from Manchester City, with whom her contract expires at the end of June.
Arsenal confirmed at the start of the month that talks were underway with the 27-year-old for a permanent switch to North London, with Kelly granting the club first refusal for her signature.
The Gooner Fanzine understands that discussions are progressing well with both parties said to be satisfied with negotiations.
West-London born Kelly came through Arsenal’s academy before joining Everton, and then spending five seasons with Manchester City.
The pacy forward scored the iconic winning goal for England at Euro 2022 as the Lionesses beat Germany at Wembley, and has made over 50 senior caps for her country.
Kelly joined Arsenal on loan in January after making just one start for City in the first half of the Women’s Super League season, after taking to social media to ask to leave the club. She would make 13 appearances for the Gunners, helping Renée Slegers’ side to the Champions League title and a second place finish in the WSL.
England begin their Euro 2025 campaign in Zurich against France on July 5.
