Ten changes however business as usual as we progress to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals ahead of the trip to Burnley.

Here are three things that stood out for me, writes Ian Mils

1 - The kids are alright:

– when Ethan Nwaneri swept home Myles Lewis-Skelly’s cut back early in the second half, it was a goal that was made at Hale End.

It was Nwaneri’s first goal of this season in what has been a slightly frustrating opening couple of months for him personally.

His repositioning to be Martin Odegaard’s understudy rather being deployed wide right has limited his playing time however this match underlined his potential once more.

Elsewhere Max Dowman became the youngest ever starter for the club and impressed again with his forward probing whilst Andre Harriman-Annous made his debut in attack.

2 - Kepa is a keeper

– when the former Chelsea keeper was captured for £5m in the summer, most observers thought this was a solid back up goalkeeper acquisition and as much Kepa would love to be our number one, he appears realistic about his hopes of dislodging the excellent David Raya right now.

He made only his second appearance for the club in this tie, and we were indebted to him as he made a string of fine saves as Brighton threatened to continue their superb recent record away to us.

I have no doubt that Kepa’s heroics will continue to keep Raya at the very top of his form. We claimed our 11th clean sheet in fourteen matches to continue our brilliant start to this campaign.

3 - Momentum continues:

– while the timing of the quarter-final is proving to tricky to arrange with a congested December ahead for both us and our opponents – Crystal Palace – this win keeps our strong run going as we made it eight straight wins in all competitions.

Fixture congestion is a by-product of any successful side and whilst we continue to suffer injuries, the full use of our squad will be required to maintain our competitiveness across four competitions.

There were valuable minutes in this game aside from those players already mentioned to Ben White, Piero Hincapie and Christian Norgaard.

This victory also made history as we became the first English top flight side to win six games in a month without conceding a goal.
