Arsenal Women deadline day round-up: goalkeeper arrives and loanees recalled

Barbora Votikova strengthened Arsenal's goalkeeping group, arriving on loan from Slavia Prague

The January transfer window saw Arsenal Women strike early with the signing of 19-year-old Smilla Holmberg from Hammarby.

A number of loans have been arranged, including a long-overdue move for Jenna Nighswonger, who joined Aston Villa, and Laila Harbert will spend the rest of the season with Everton.

On deadline day, Arsenal remained relatively busy- here's what the Gunners got up to:

Barbora Votikova joined on loan from Slavia Prague for the remainder of the season to bolster Arsenal's injury-hit goalkeeping group. Votikova is experienced with Czechia and has played in the Women's Super League with Tottenham.

The Gooner Fanzine reported earlier on Tuesday that Laura Dick was staying with Hoffenheim after Arsenal had shown interest in the German goalkeeper.

Maddy Earl and Vivienne Lia were recalled from loans at Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest respectively. The Gooner Fanzine understands Earl has been out with a minor injury.

Sophie Harwood will stay with the club, rather than going on a loan abroad, due to Taylor Hinds injurying her foot in training on Saturday before the Champions Cup final. Hinds was in crutches and a protective boot as Arsenal lifted the trophy.
