Arsenal moved top of Group D in the Conti Cup after picking up a bonus point against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Jen Beattie scored the decisive penalty, with Jessica Naz and Kit Graham failing to find the net for Spurs in the shootout.

Martha Thomas put Tottenham ahead with a header in the 17th minute, but Arsenal responded quickly and Stina Blackstenius equalised.

After half an hour Spurs regained their lead through Naz, but again Arsenal equalised soon after through Frida Maanum.

Naz completed her brace three minutes into the second half but Laia Codina’s header sealed a draw for the Gunners after 90 minutes.

Player ratings:

Sabrina D’Angelo 5.5/10

Playing second fiddle to Manu Zinsberger, and did not fill Arsenal fans with confidence at times this evening. Made the gamble to rush off her line but Naz slid the ball past her easily for Spurs’ second. Made a fantastic save to deny Ayane in the shootout.

Katie McCabe 6/10

Denied a long-range screamer by a top-drawer save. Set up Maanum’s equaliser after she found space on the left wing.

Jen Beattie 6/10

Dominated in the air by Martha Thomas when the striker headed Spurs into the lead. Dispatched the winning penalty into the top corner.

Laia Codina 5.5/10

Trying to work her way into Jonas Eidevall’s strongest defence. Credited with scoring Arsenal’s third- initially given as an own goal.

Noelle Maritz 6/10

Saw her cross-cum-shot hit the woodwork after a neat attacking move.

Kathrine Kuhl 6/10

Able to beat defenders with ease and take up good positions but lacked that end product in front of goal. Gave the ball away very cheaply to allow Spurs to create their third goal.

Kyra Cooney-Cross 7.5/10

Linked up play with her impressive range of passing, no more so than the free kick that led to Arsenal’s third goal.

Frida Maanum 7/10

Assisted Blackstenius with a clever low ball across goal, and found the net herself with a powerful close-range finish.

Cloe Lacasse 5/10

A relatively quiet display but not for the want of trying.

Vivianne Miedema 5.5/10

Made her first Arsenal start since rupturing her ACL in a game against Lyon two days short of a year ago today. Began the game on the left wing, showing glimpses of her vision and footballing intelligence.

Stina Blackstenius 6.5/10

Equalised for Arsenal with an excellent first time finish. Dropped deep to knit together possession for her side.

Caitlin Foord (Sub, 61’) 6/10

Missed a good chance to equalise moments after coming on- never shy to go for goal from in and around the box.

Steph Catley (Sub, 61’) 6/10

Added her pinpoint set pieces to Arsenal’s armoury after replacing McCabe.

Beth Mead (Sub, 72’)

Victoria Pelova (Sub, 72’)

Alessia Russo (Sub, 83 ’)

Subs not used: Manu Zinsberger, Amanda Ilestedt, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Lia Walti.
